  • The year refers to the year of publication of the dataset; not the year of publication of the paper which contains the dataset
  • If no date of publication, use n.d. (no date) and provide an access date. But if the cited data applies to a specific year(s), use this date instead of n.d.
  • Provide a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) if available. If you cannot locate a DOI, include the item’s URL
  • Data available via an independent database, dataset or other collection files, can be cited directly (as shown in the Zou example).
