Incorporating Gen-AI content

If you have received permission from your Unit Coordinator, you may be able to incorporate content from a Gen-AI tool into your assessment. In this case, you should ensure that any use of Gen-AI tools or content is appropriately acknowledged.

In brief, when using or incorporating Gen-AI into your work, you should always:

  • Declare use by including a statement explaining the tool and prompt you used, as well as how it was incorporated or modified.
  • Reference AI outputs in the unit’s referencing style.

Declaring use

Whenever you use Gen-AI technology related to assessments, you must acknowledge how you have utilised it and what it has contributed to.

You should include a declaration explicitly stating how it has been used or incorporated into your work. The declaration should be placed after your reference list.

A declaration should include the AI tools used, what each tool was used for, the prompts used, and an explanation of how the output from the tools was used in your work.

Template

You are encouraged to copy the declaration template below directly into your work and edit it as needed.
